I Wish…

I always feel overwhelmed when people ask us what we do. It is why I have such a difficult time with the elevator pitch, the artist bio, the piece where you are supposed to talk about yourself. My sisters and I do a LOT of different things and we try to work them into a cohesive offering that our supporters might purchase and enjoy. For some reason it feels like a shameful thing not to focus on one specific art form and master it, to spend the time to learn multiple disciplines at the same time, without ever letting one really take flight. It feels like we are saying we are unfocused, or undisciplined. The thing is, the thing that is so difficult to explain is, that we are not unfocused or undisciplined. We always prioritize. Our priority is to create… to remain creative.

Last fall we had the opportunity to meet one of the most creative humans I have ever met. His name is C. Lyon. He has decorated his entire 40 acre Upstate New York homestead with the most magical assortment of sculptures! Many of his sculptures are offering homage to a variety of historical characters who have captured his imagination. Many are ideas expressed, in as many ways as he has had time to produce them. He has written poetry, compiling collections of poems he has organized and hand-bound in over 1.000 copies. He has written hundreds of songs, some on the guitars he made with his own two hands, one a year... guitars that he then donated to the school’s music department. He gave us each a large glass marble, marbles he made specifically to give to people, who might then gift them to other people in gratitude of kindness. He sang for us, shared his time and creations… he reminded us what it means to be artists. Art is the expression of a lifestyle… a revealing of a mind that is motivated by heart and spirit.

We have finally wrangled our creativity into some sort of business. We list and sell some consistent pieces now. Some are printed on garments or fabric items. Some printed as stickers. We stitch embellishments onto some of the pieces that inspire us. I (Eppie) am sculpting, molding, casting, painting and resin coating jewelry (rings specifically, because that is what I love). We are working on print all over clothing options, so you can wrap yourself in our love whenever you choose. We want to offer shoes. Slowly, slowly… slow down…

Our problem is not that we do too much, it is that we have a difficult time communicating what we do. We are going to slow down, take a deep breath, and share with you.

Julie has opened a store in Wartrace, The Wartrace Emporium, and it is a magical wonderland full of curated offerings made and produced by the coolest artists. It will be open every day this Spring and if you head into Wartrace TN, you can’t miss it! Pottery, wearable art, paintings, strange and collectible oddities… you don’t know what you will find, but you know there will be something you love!

I have dropped a small batch of our things off at Fusion Atelier in Brookeville PA. They will soon be opening for the summer, as well. You can catch them for a delicious cup of coffee on Saturdays, if you want to take a peek!

Maybe you want to own a piece of our art that we deliver right to your door? Every Wednesday at 8:00pm EST (New York time), we will have a small batch of handmade, one of a kind rings drop in our shop. Sometimes there will be other offerings, but we are going to slow down in our communication and offerings, even while we design more for future. We hope you still enjoy seeing all we do and we cannot express our gratitude for the love and support you have always shown us! I don’t know how you turn up for us, every time, with every new thing we try. …actually, I do. We are all the kind of people who value the creative process… I love that, actually.
