A History Lesson...

The lives of a cat are many.  We are going to introduce you to Wilma, daughter and direct relation of Wilberforce, Chief Mouser of the Cabinet Office of London.

Darling Wilma...

First a little history; Wilberforce was appointed the Office Manager's cat, with a living allowance for his care, in London England in 1973, living at 10 Downing Street between 1973 and 1986, and serving under four British Prime Ministers: Edward Heath, Harold Wilson, Jim Callaghan and Margaret Thatcher. His chief function was to catch mice. In life he had been referred to as "the best mouser in Britain". He fathered Wilma who was born February 14th, 1980. He died 8 years and three months later on May 19th 1988.  In 1988 a stray by the name of Humphrey took the place of Wilberforce and Wilma thought this was blasphemy!  Humphrey ruled as Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office from 1988-1997. Wilma thought a stray should not be honored with such a title. But she saw the greatness in Humphries because of her amazing heart. From 1997-2007 there was a 10 year gap of no ruler.  This is where the story begins for Wilma.  Wilma knew that she was a daughter (illegitimate perhaps, but still a daughter) of Wilberforce and that she would be able to someday take the title of The Best Mouser.  But try as she might, no one noticed her. Her heart was too big and kind to compete with the politics and confusion of earning the title. In the later years of her 3rd life, Wilma tried to compete with Sybil, the next title holder. But even a young and vibrant Wilma (she still had many lives to live) couldn't compete with a Chancellor's heir.  Sybil won the rights in 2007 to the title.  Wilma will never forget.  But Wilma had numerous lives to live.  Knowing she was born to greatness, she decided to hop a ship to North America where she knew she would find the happiness that she longed for and live out the rest of her lives with a full heart and people that loved her.  She has been on many journeys and the story's she has to tell are amazing!  She is dressed as a peasant in this New America.  She doesn't want her new found owner to know her true identity until the time is right for them have this knowledge. With this knowledge, much greatness can be inherited.  Many more journeys are in the life of Wilma.  Her heart will be the thing that wins over her new caretakers.
